Less than 3 weeks and Christmas 2009 begins...
I just wanted to write about some true facts about Christmas... mainly about the iconic figure: Santa Claus.
Historial Similarities
Santa Claus is said to exist; resembling the Bishop, Saint Nicholas (Nicholas of Myra/Turkey) who is known to the people of his time as a patron Saint of giving... so based on this fact, he does not give only toys to children. A well known story of his legendary deeds was that he was said to give dowries to help three poor daughters belonging to a very poor but devoted Christian family so they would get married legitimately without ending up becoming prostitutes (selling girls for money leading to underaged prostitution is practised even to this day in various parts of the middle east, India and Asia)
Saintly Cause
St. Nicholas is a saint often prayed to, for the protection of certain countries (Russian and Greek), children, sailors, prisoners, bakers, pawnbrokers, shopkeepers and animal creatures (mainly wolves).
Manner of Dressing
The only reason why Santa Claus looks the way we see him now - is because his appearance is a combination of old traditions and religions: Christian, Pagan, Old Catholic, Scandinavian, Dutch, German and English.

Popularity
His presence to the world was popularised initially by book publications, advertisements and television media, but his popularity was enforced even stronger and widely distributed by companies such as Coca Cola - as they wanted a mascot that was joyful and happy endorsing their products during the festive season (if the mascot was an ordinary old man whose face would make you feel depressed rather than jolly, you wouldn't drink coke feeling happy now - would you?)
Above: Santa taking a break; drinking coke.
Santa's Many Names
"Santa Claus" is just one of the many names he's being called throughout the world. Other well known names he's reputed for in various countries are: Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Sinter/Sintr/Sint Klaas, and Kris Kringle.
Who's Good and Bad?
Santa Claus is famous for going through chimneys flawlessly despite his fat (beyond chimney dimensions) appearance... and provides toys to children who are good - and while not much mentioning, he provides coal to kids who are bad. It's also mentioned in some publications that Santa has a dark elf that accompanies and helps him with the deed of punishing bad kids. (Makes you wonder if dark elves in modern computer games originate to out of proportions based on this folklore...) in Germany there is a creature of similar task called Belsnickel that puts in coal into socks instead of toys and candy should kids misbehave.
Creatures that Travel with Santa
Reindeers are the commercialized creatures that Santa Claus uses in travelling, but following different traditions and beliefs, there are also horses, donkeys (and even goats following Norse mythology) they are said to be mainly white in color... thanks to various commercialized ideas, they can fly or leap extremely long distances.
Mrs. Santa Claus
Due to the fact that some people prefer a down-to-earth Santa rather than a mythical, deity-like or a person who has magical/godly powers, they gave him a wife: Jessica Mary Claus. She's got other names associating her as the wife of Santa: 'Mrs Claus', 'Goody', 'Jessica', 'Matha', 'Doloe', 'Dolores', 'Ma', 'Maya'. She officially does not exist in any ancient folklore, aside American publications (the only exception of Santa having a close female relative would be "Father Frost" - a pagan god whose daughter helps distribute gifts to children).
Santarina(s)
Santarina's
(like Mrs. Claus) don't exist in folklore either - her existence was
brought to modern Christmas times only recently. The origins of
Santarina's are shady (they could be of Mexican or of Filipino origin)
but there are no official documentations to prove of such. Santarina's
are generally young, sexy (very attractive) wearing Santa-like outfits
(sometimes their suits tend to exhibit the female wearer to exposing
sexy parts of the female body) She often assists Santa in ushering kids
to sit on his lap, or finding gifts from the gift sack... these days
its these girls that catches my attention coming Christmas...
I seriously hope they become as good as this... hohoho yeah! More reason to celebrate!
Despite the truths of Santa Claus and the various origins that made him become the icon figure he is... he is mainly associated with spreading good-will and I find thats what matters, most. I also hope that Santarina's keep coming in more revealing outfits... and coupled with beer in hand, there's always something to look forward to every Christmas. Hurrah!

What is really being missed from state to state inmate searches? Is it just a problem if the inmate is in the middle of being charged with a new crime or moving to another location?
Avatar was a great movie, I just watched it a few day ago. I don't usually go to the theather because I get nervious around a lot people but I think I'll give this one a shot because people are saying that it's even better on the big screen, I think it might be in 3D. You can watch it at my new website.
I tell you…all the memories come flooding back lol.
The #1 blog I read on this yet If you ask me!
Very interesting way to market on facebook. I also found a way to automate several very powerful methods of getting users. You can capture ID by groups or pages or wall posts with this software. Then once you have the IDs you can do a friend add to your logon or sudo profile. This by passes the captcha codes too. There is also a cool chat program that you can setup scripts and keyword to work with. This program, when I use it I can see a spike in my site traffic. It is awesome...
To start, allow me to point out that your internet site is fantastic. I love the theme that you have. It was very easy on the eyes. Appreciate your article too. Definitely subscribed to your feed to make sure I won't be missing out on any updates. Excellent job! Toast to a productive business
I do not generally comment on web sites but I needed to drop in and say thanks for making this, I absolutely agree with the fact and with a little luck people today can understand this argument.
thanks !! very helpful post!
Pretty insightful post. Never thought that it was this simple after all. I had spent a good deal of my time looking for someone to explain this subject clearly and you’re the only one that ever did that. Kudos to you! Keep it up

I am not that loving of Seiji and Namie, but it’s not due to the sum of their fixations; it’s the presence of obsessions that endanger to make them one-dimensional. One of the reasons Baccano was so negative, despite the honored carrying out of the nonlinear plot line, was that its character references were irritating, one-dimensional types presented with a complete absence of nuance. The other characters of Durarara haven’t been so unflavored that you anticipate them to stay on ineffectual caricatures for the entire show, so when we discover Namie scarcely functional as a human being due to her fixation with Seiji, we can’t truly admit that she runs this company or ties her own shoe laces.
How Dogs and Women are alike.....
