Google Indexing in FaceBook.

| 13 Comments | No TrackBacks
With the new security measures being introduced by FaceBook, one of the undocumented features was that your personal information on FaceBook will be indexed by google search engines... if you do a search on your name in google and click on facebook links found by the search - you'll find out for yourself whether this feature should be off or not. In case you want to keep your facebook privacy from google's prying eyes, here's how to turn it off:
fb_notification_iconFaceBook's notification feature display notifications made by applications, and also basic services such as birthdays, wall posts and comments - especially after a long period of time, and on my FireFox browser, they are displayed in a list, which accumulates when you've not logged in for quite a while.

Those notifications - when expanded, can sure go past the browser's maximum window height; now if you got a browser problem like what I've been having with my Internet browser, you might not be able to scroll up or down in that list... but if you want to? read on.

Facebook (Light Version)

Facebook Light and no... this image isn't officialFaceBook has shelled out a "light" (slimmed down) version; initially designed to accommodate facebook users that have slow internet connections.

If you're a facebook user that's fed up with all the clutter of the usual facebook layout (e.g. facebook chat, apps, boxes etc.) then you might want to check this out. I find it easy to use and more importantly, less confusing... good for new users that are starting out facebook, and for experienced users that want a simple interface.
logo_s_facebook.jpgI like and often use the chat function of FaceBook that was incorporated as part of their new features in replacing the old FaceBook layout; the only thing that I don't like about the feature; is that it's not stable (imagine the frustration of finding out that your friends have somehow gotten "disconnected" when you're in the middle of a conversation) seeing how FaceBook and how browsers work, the solution would be to have the chat in a separate browser window.
logo_s_facebook.jpgEven FaceBook has spam...

Those who have their computers infected will begin sending messages to friends on their wall:

"Wow... look what somebody wrote about you in their blog... it's a bit harsh. check it out Go here http://xxxxxxxxxx.xxxx.com"

Clicking on that link will bring you to a forgery site (phishing site) where should you enter your login and password will have your accounts, hacked.
